Kyla Barnett (b. 1976) is an artist based in Western Washington. Her work spans oil painting, charcoal drawing, and mixed media, with a deep connection to the natural world and the light that moves through it.
Whether creating detailed florals, moody landscapes, expressive portraits, or whimsical illustrations, Kyla’s work is grounded in close observation and a desire to evoke memory, mood, and meaning. Living in the Pacific Northwest offers constant inspiration — from the rainy quiet of the forest, to the structure of a flower in bloom, or the sudden break of sunlight after days of gray.
Kyla received classical training in drawing and painting from the Tacoma Academy of Fine Art (2006–2009). Her work blends traditional techniques with experimentation, aiming to go beyond surface representation. Through metaphor and attention to detail, she seeks to reveal something deeper — a sense of reverence for the beauty and mystery of the created world.
